LVS Articles

July saw the singers performing in several different venues – the Quayside Centre, Lethytep, and the annual concert at the RNLI. During that month six choir members travelled to London to join with the Really Big Chorus in a performance of Carmina Burana at the Royal Albert Hall. It was a great opportunity to join a large choir and orchestra at such a prestigious venue. After a busy July the singers had a welcome break before resuming choir practice at the end of August. September will see the choir performing in the Choir Zone as part of the Looe Live festival. After that it will be time to start practising the Christmas repertoire. The choir meet on Thursday evening at the Riverside Church at 7pm and new members are always welcome. For more details contact Kathy 01503 272550 or go to the website www.looevalleysingers .org.uk

Our next concert is fast approaching!...

We will be singing as part of the Looe Live Music festival on Sunday 22nd September at 1pm at the Life Boat Station - we look forward to seeing you!

RNLI

We had an enjoyable time at the RNLI on 21 August, doing what we love best, singing to raise funds for this essential charity.
As usual, we were very well looked after by the RNLI volunteers, with tea and cake and savouries, so we did sing for our supper!

Spring and summer news

The warm summer weather has seen the Choir out and about in several different places. In May, seven singers travelled to the Royal Albert Hall to join The Really Big Chorus in a performance of The Armed Man, A Mass for Peace, by the composer Karl Jenkins. To sing with such a chorus of 1,500 singers, with the accompaniment of the English Festival Orchestra, at such a prestigious venue was an amazing experience.
Closer to home the choir sang at the Polperro festival and future events include a concert at St Petroc’s Church, Bodmin, the Riverside Sunday Service on July 29th and the RNLI on August 21st with guests Saxequality.
The choir has a varied repertoire with music from Mozart to Motown and new singers are always welcome. For further details contact Kathy 01503 272550 or Jill 01503 240768 or www.looevalleysingers.org.uk

Winter/spring news

After a miserable winter the choir is looking forward to the spring where several events are planned.
In March the choir will be part of the Big Sing Concert in Wadebridge, raising money for the Cornwall Air Ambulance. See the Looe Valley Singers at the West Looe May Fayre on 6th May, both singing and having a stall to raise money for choir funds. The choir will pop up again at the Polperro Festival in June.
In May, several choir members will be travelling to the Royal Albert Hall to take part in a performance of The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins.
We are always happy to welcome new members:
